Mosaics on Display

We invite you to visit the Henrietta Hankin Branch Library to enjoy a special display of beautiful mosaics created by participants in our mosaicking classes. For the past five years, the library has offered summer mosaic programs, and this exhibit showcases a selection of participants’ work along with some of the supplies and tools used to create these one-of-a-kind artworks.

In our mosaic classes, participants learn the picassiette style, which incorporates broken dishes, stained glass, tiles, shells, broken jewelry, found objects, and even eggshells. Individual pieces and objects are called tesserae and are attached with indoor or outdoor adhesives depending on where the finished mosaic will be displayed. Each year, participants explore a new technique, experiment with a different adhesive, and create their mosaics on a new type of substrate.

We are proud to celebrate the beautiful works of art created by participants over the years, and we look forward to offering more classes in the future. The display is available to view now through August 15.
