Dear Friend of the Chester Springs Library,
As America celebrates its 250th birthday, we remember the ordinary people who lived right here in our community. They endured hardship and sacrifice during the Revolution because they believed liberty was worth fighting for and refused to give up.
That same determined spirit calls us today. The Chester Springs Library is more than a building: it preserves history, welcomes questions, and gives everyone a place to learn and connect. Without it, our community loses an important part of its identity.
Restoring the library is our generation’s stand. The Chester Springs Library Board of Trustees are fighting to reopen as soon as possible, but unforeseen problems with the historic building have delayed progress. The struggle has been difficult, but we will not give up.
For the second year in a row we are asking you to please stand with us united in the cause of reopening our extraordinary little library. We need your gifts, large or small, as an act of your resolve and commitment to this library. Together, like the Patriots, we can prove that we do not retreat when liberty and community are at
stake.
Even while the building is closed, the library remains active in the community through story times, summer reading, play dough mornings, book discussions, crafts, a crochet/knitting group, and programs with the West Pikeland Township Parks and Recreation Committee. We also continue to invest in access to e-reading materials. With our physical collection unavailable, we are purchasing e-books and e-audiobooks so readers can continue to borrow and enjoy library materials. This investment keeps readers connected to the library, advances our mission, and expands access to these increasingly popular resources throughout the Chester County Library System.
This year, our Annual Appeal aims to raise $25,000 to restore what was lost and build an even better community library. Your generosity will help replace children’s toys, craft supplies, bookshelves, story time equipment, and a water cooler. Donations will also help cover the cost of new flooring, story time rugs, and the extended storage of our book collection beyond what insurance covers. As we rebuild, we’re creating a fresh new look and a more welcoming, accessible layout designed to enhance everyone’s library experience.
Please join me in contributing to the 2026 Annual Appeal today so that we may reopen bigger, better, and stronger than we ever were. Thank you for your kindness and your loyalty. It is much appreciated!
Respectfully,
Janet M. Spaventa
Member, Chester Springs Library Board of Trustees
